Learning Objectives

Students will apply and develop an understanding of ballast, bouyancy, projection mechanisms, and teamwork. Students will be expected to develop a promotional presentation, video, or visual before launching their submersible. The learning outcomes will be evidence that students are capable of working in teams to design and build a submersible mechanism with adequate buoyancy to prevent touching the bottom of the trough and adequate ballast to prevent it from breaking the surface of the water while it travels independently from one side of the trough to the other. Students will also show evidence of public speaking practice and the use of persuasive language as they promote their product.
