Learning Objectives

Students will learn how to conduct scientific research. Students will collect and analyze data to draw conclusions about the factors that cause variations in the current speed. Students will record the current rate in meters per second, which provides a direct connection to math content. Students will learn how oysters are a keystone species of the salt marsh and will also learn about the human impact on oyster populations over the last 150 years and the consequences of the impact.

Materials needed:

  • Flow meter for measuring water speed
